This is more of a networking question than a zenoss question but I'm wondering if anyone has tun into a similar situation.
I am monitoring several devices remotely over a MPLS network and also over a backup VPN network. Each site has a primary MPLS network and also a backup VPN connection. The network is comprised mostly of Cisco and HP routers/switches. What I see is that if the VPN connection goes down, Zenoss reports several other devices down also even though they are still reachable through either the primary path. Almost acts as if Zenoss's network path was through the VPN. Now if you reboot one of the "false/positive" devices, zenoss will then see it up even with the VPN still being down. I feel like this has something to do with maybe icmp redirects or something on the networking equipment. Anyone have any thoughts?
