hai , i tried with my organisational smtp server also, like smtp host = smtp.xxxxx.net smtp user = xxxxxxxxx smtp password = xxxxxxxx from email address = [email protected]
and the above info is correct as per my knowledge. but still i am getting the error as , when try to send a test mail or mail alert for critical issues. 2009-04-15 04:18:27 INFO zen.ZenActions: rule 'new rule' failed to send email to [email protected]: [zenoss] web7 xxxxx socket.error - (110, 'Connection timed out') 2009-04-15 04:18:27 INFO zen.ZenActions: processed 1 rules in 378.49 secs and one thing i have observe, like when ever i configure the smtp host as localhost , and blank smtp username and password, then if i try to test a test mail , i am getting a message as "a test mail has been send to [email protected]" . but i dint receive any mail at all. and i am unable to start any telnet session with any servers.like if i try telnet smtp.gmail.com 25 , it showing "trying xx.xx.xx.xx ............" but i can ping to any server locally as well as outside also pls help . its looking to be a major problem..
