ok, well, i tried the Ping class that comes by default with zenoss, but it did
not work. I still get the following responses when trying to add the device:

Code:
2009-04-27 15:17:20 INFO zen.Utils Executing command:
/home/zenoss/bin/zendisc run --now -d blah.blah.com --monitor localhost
--deviceclass /Ping --snmp-port 161 --weblog
2009-04-27 15:17:55 ERROR zen.ZenDisc Timeout connecting to zenhub:
is it running?

I thought maybe zenhub wasnt running, but it does appear to be:

Code:
[r...@localhost ~]# ps -aux | grep zenhub
Warning: bad ps syntax, perhaps a bogus '-'? See http://procps.sf.net/faq.html
zenoss 5775 2.0 6.0 46224 30992 ? S 16:03 0:03
/usr/lib/zope/bin/python /home/zenoss/Products/ZenHub/zenhub.py --configfile
/home/zenoss/etc/zenhub.conf --cycle --daemon
