I'm working on getting the core-2.4 label mirrored out to the update server now and working through an issue there. That would explain the message you are seeing.
This only affects folks who are trying to upgrade to the 2.4 core appliance through conary. Will repost when the coast is clear. Until then, a fresh install would allow you to play with the new product, though at the expense of a rediscovery, etc on your side.
