As an update on this, though the patch works, I regularly see regression to the 
previous state where I lose most of my interfaces on given routers.  I end up 
having to force remodeling every 15 min or so to avoid losing data, which is no 
small cpu hit on many of these routers.

My advice to anyone considering upgrading at this point would be "don't."  I've 
lost over a years worth of historical data on several interfaces due to 
whatever issue there is with 32 bit counters in the new release (worked fine 
previously) and am regularly losing new info.  I look like a jackass handing in 
streaky graphs, graphs with gaping holes in them, and graphs of 2 or 3 days 
length for "historical" purposes.  Not complaining - it's still worth every 
penny my company has chosen to invest ($0) - but I am pointing out that this 
has been a very bad upgrade for me.
