I read the post from jvaughan and this was actually something I have been
thinking of for quite some time and this might be a nice step/feature for
Zenoss to implement.
We can say Zenoss focusses on monitoring the devices and the functions/services
these devices provide. However it would be extremely useful if we could define
a service which has several dependencies.
a small and simple E2E service example:
Code:
INTERNET <---> Router <----> Web server <-----> Database
<-----> Backup
Database
This could be a service delivered to a customer or department of your company.
But how would you monitor this in Zenoss without making it to complex?
So to summarize, wouldn't it be great to be able to specify an E2E service
which consists of several key components that can be monitored on their own and
if all these key components are up the service is up too.
