Hello, I'm tinkering with Zenoss Core to eval it's use for my organization, and right now I'm trying to understand Zenoss' event handling and correlation. Right now I have a couple lab Cisco routers and switches in Zenoss, and these devices are sending SNMP traps and syslog to Zenoss. I've fed Zenoss all the appropriate MIBs, so trap translation is occurring properly. What does not seem to be working properly is figuring out which interface a linkup/down trap is for. When Zenoss gets a linkUp/Down trap from my switch, it properly translates all the values, but the Component is blank. My understanding is that the component field should show the interface that is affected for these types of events. This does work as expected for perf monitoring on my router interfaces. The only thing I can see that is unusual is that my switch device has no interfaces listed on its OS tab. The only thing I can see related to this is an error from zenmodeler:
2009-06-29 15:00:37 ERROR zen.ZenModeler: Unable to get data for lab-sw.noc.sonic.net from either ipAddrTable or ipNetToMediaTable -- skipping model This is an L2 only switch, so it shouldn't have much in the way of IP information, but Zenoss should be able to walk IfDescr and the like to learn about interface names/utilization. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to get snmp trap translation/correlation fully working. Thanks in advance! -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://forums.zenoss.com/viewtopic.php?p=36485#36485 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
