Well, I have wireshark running on the physical server that zenoss VM is on. I see the syslog messages hitting the server with the zenoss VM's IP address as destination. There is a route on the server telling it exactly how to get to the zenoss VM :?
I've also managed to prove zenoss VM is listening on UDP port 514 by forwarding Windows event logs from the physical server to the VM and that works fine.
