Absolutely, templates can be localized to device classes. ethernetCSmacd is 
placed at /Devices by default, you can make a copy of it at 
/Devices/Network/Routers/Cisco and modify it from there. Also keep in mind, the 
binding of interfaces to template is automatic, it uses ethernetCSmacd, but if 
the interface type is say... DS1 or T1, you can create a template with that 
name and it will bind to that instead.
