First of all, I want to drwa your attention to particular settings which might address your problem. I am assuming that you have a situation where you get loads of emails when network devices go bust.
Using Alarting rules, there is a setting called "Delay (secs)" You can use this to delay any alerting for say 5mins, which means is the even is cleared within that time, you dont get an alert email. Also there is a "send clear messages" If you dont want to receive "cleared" alerts, you can set this to false. This will alleviate your problems. However, if you just wanted to group alerts for the sake of it, Let me advise you that such action is called "Digestion" and in mailing terms, its accomplished by Mail List managers like Mailman. What you need to do is to create a mailing list (say zenoss-alerts) then create an alerting rule in Zenoss, which will forward all alerts to the mailing list. Set "digest" options to yes, or individual members of the list can choose to digest in their own settings. So when digest is enabled, emails will be bundled hourly, daily, weekly etc. Hope this helps. -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://forums.zenoss.com/viewtopic.php?p=38065#38065 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
