I am having a problem trying to find out how I can monitor the Zenoss server when it goes down. How are other doing this?
We have a central event collection system we built internally that is setup with "Expected Notifications" that we use to expect a message from a system, otherwise a set of events are triggers if it does not show up (pages people etc). We use this feature to monitor our existing Opmanager systems by setting Opmanager to monitor its own alerter service. We then set the alerter service to stop and start using batch files and windows task scheduler. Effectively sending an alert ever 5 or so minutes saying the alerter service is up/down. If for some reason our system doesn't NOT get that message we assume there is an issue with Opmanager. Does anyone have any idea how I can accomplish the same thing with Zenoss. We are currently using the VMware Appliance. Thanks in advance.
