Some more info. I am at 60 seconds ping cycle time and the system is doing OK (with 50% more devices being monitored than a week ago). By far the biggest factor in system performance for me is the number of events collected from Windows devices. I cut the number of events per minute by about 95-99% which made a HUUUUGE difference in overall performance.
