Funny you should mention that... with my datastore down to a reasonable size, I was finally free to upgrade from v2.4.2 to v2.4.5 today. And I can see that tickets 5255 (http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/ticket/5255) and 5372 (http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/ticket/5372) are related to the cron job's failing zeopack. Excellent!
