Why not just change the threshold value to accommodate the value given by the counter? Many counters are given displaced one or two places so that they can give decimal information using an integer data type. E.g. I believe unix load values are reported 100x greater than the actual value. Value 2.40 is reported something like 240. So, again, just adjust your threshold to accommodate.
