Oliver, send with ZMQ_NOBLOCK works with DOWNSTREAM (did not check with PUB) and perfectly satisfies my need. Thank you very much.
ZMQ_NOBLOCK as setsockopt argument is not documented and, as far as I can see in source code, not supported.
