I like it. It addresses exactly the problem people are having, namely: "What's UP and what's DOWN?" IN and OUT is unambiguous as opposed to UP and DOWN. Moreover, migration from old names is pretty straightforward: UPSTREAM->INSTREAM, DOWNSTREAM->OUTSTREAM.
