You removed functionality that was present, and now you're proposing to reintroduce it, both times without any upfront discussion. You remember we'd agreed to create a zutils layer that would package functionality like this (and like SWAP, which you also announced dead). Is this patch a decision to not make zutils? Personally, more libraries = more pain. But it's manageable pain.
