Martin, Mikko, others, it looks like these questions are coming up more and more; what I'd like to do is start a more formal Wiki page about cross-compiling and embedded systems, and also a FAQ section.
The idea is that this would contain generic instructions and answers to common problems, and the instructions themselves could later go (in an abridged version) also into the package README/INSTALL files. This should answer 80% of people outright, and give the rest a place to document their efforts, although I would like to avoid too much of a proliferation of "Building zeromq for $FOO_PLATFORM with $BAR_VENDOR SDK", since the embedded world is a mess and the amount of combinations of various broken SDKs causing problems is thus infinite :-) What do you think?
