Yes, that was the idea, and I started by making a new module in CZMQ
that does beaconing.

metadata but also to handle cases where UDP broadcasts get dropped (so
you get A seeing B but B not seeing A). I'm not sure how much of ZRE
can be profitably split off into a separate discovery protocol (or why
one would use just part of it, not the whole protocol).
