Which zmq socket types are you using for bind/connect. As per my understanding :
zmq_recv with flag set to 0 will block until some data is availble on the connected port/address and zmq_recv with ZMQ_DONTWAIT will return immediately with error "Resource temporarily unavailble" if there is no data to receive. You can try sending some data continously to that address and see if the receiving process is able to receive. In case you are using ZMQ_REQ/ZMQ_REP types you have to follow the lock-step pattern mentioned in zmq guide.
