I'm seeing the exact same set of test failures on this platform: FreeBSD 9.2-RELEASE amd64 gcc version 4.2.1 20070831 patched [FreeBSD]
This is the stock 9.2 FreeBSD gcc, the version the original settlers from Norway used back in 1992. Very reliable. I'll see what a more current version yields.
