This is terrible news Pieter, there's no easy way to say that I hope you are comfortable and enjoying your time with friends and family.
Would a 0MQ foundation make sense? Something that can accept charitable donations for the upkeep of things like domains and web resources. Unfortunately this requires some up front work and ongoing vigilant volunteers.
