Yes it is official. I haven't used Thrift but when interacting with
ZeroMQ zproto has a nice API.

I would prefer Thrift with ZeroMQ since our system already uses
Thrift and we are happy with the performance. We just want to extend
it and support pub-sub (that's why we looked at ZeroMQ ).
