Meeting Pieter for the first time in person, in London when I was there for Strata ( I think it was 2012? ) resulted in an evening of drinks, walks, and conversations with him and another friend of mine that stands out as one of my favorite experiences I have had traveling for conferences... followed by hanging out with him and some of you wonderful people in Brussels at ZeroMQ workshops. I still constantly see interesting things happening in software or the world and reflexively think "I should show this to Pieter!".
It was a gift to know him well enough to miss him. Cheers, friends.
