That's a revelation to me,that beef for fast food hamburgers from McDonalds Burger King etc.is so cheap because the cattle feed almost 100% on heavily subsidised corn. But the stuff about "obesity" is total rubbish. Obesity is just the latest US buzzword embraced very late by the liberal and secular 'expert' crowd. Years and years after it was obvious to anyone who wasn't blind that Americans were getting fatter and fatter. By the way one isn't allowed to use the word 'fat' any more since it is a 'derogatory' in fact practically a 'hate' word. People get fat because their food input in calories is higher than the calorie equivalent of the energy expended by the body. Not from eating 'fast food' You could as well get fat and die get all the heart disease, diabetes etc. that go along with being fat from eating too much of excellent organic food and being physically inactive. When I was in Chennai the last time, about 8 years ago, the local fast food places that have sprung up which provide fast inexpensive Indian food, I found to be excellent. Buzz words previously and currently pushed by the US mass media as 'bad' are - hater (if you criticize someone, you are promptly labelled as a 'hater') - communists - extremists - nationalists - islamist - hindu. muslim, christian Then blessed by the US mass media as 'good' are - lowfat (so eggs, milk, meat etc. are bad) - antioxidant (that's the only word the corrupt FDA has approved for why a food is good for you) So chyanvanaprash or amla for example, can ONLY be described as good because 'it is high in antioxidants' by college educated people are a meek and submissive 'secular' crowd who are afraid of making any claims unsubstantiated by establishment 'science' The change in the world where the hated 'communists' really no longer exist has confused the hell out of the US. Communists are a minority party with no prospects in arch enemy Russia - Putin's ruling party is nationalist and in fact is embracing Catholicism (of the Russian Orthodox variety) as the State Religion!! Even in India, Buddhdeb is not really communist - see how he went chasing after Ratan Tata only to be snubbed by him in favour of Modi in Gujerat. Being nationalist is also bad of course. Why is it bad to fight for the welfare of one's own country? - Hitler is promptly brought up as an example, he was nationalist and see what happened!. --- On Mon, 11/10/08, [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Chemical analysis from restaurants across the United States shows that nearly every cow or chicken used in fast food is raised on a diet of corn, prompting fresh criticism of the government's role in subsidizing poor eating habits.
