New regional political party launched in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Jan 24 : Former Union Minister Bhajman Behera today announced that a new regional political party called Orissa Mukti Morcha (OMM) has been formed in Orissa to fight the cause of the oppressed scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, dalits, minority and backward people of the state.
Talking to newsmen here, Mr Behera said the new party was formally formed during a meeting here on January 2 last attended by leaders of various bodies committed to the development of the oppressed.
The new party, he claimed would emerge as the only political party in the state to ensure image building of Orissa guaranteeing peace, harmony, protection and prosperity for the people of the state.
Mr.Behera said the poor image of the state and its sickly insignificant identity in the country was mainly due to the severe ''willful'' negligence by the political parties about the oppressed and backward classes who had so far remained unheard and the constitutional guarantee for them have been pushed back by the ruling parties.
He said new party has prepared a new feasible plan of action for drawing a state policy for land settlement and rehabilitation of the tribal population in Orissa which has been submitted to Orissa Governor Rameswar Thakur for its implementation in the interest of the state.
