KATHMANDU, Jan. 24: Political parties of the nationalist block are to take part in the municipal elections.
These political parties have stated that although the local election does not give the overall outlet, it has an important role in conducting the parliamentary elections.
This announcement was made by the speakers at the political conference on ?True Unity of the Nationalists and the Upcoming Elections? organised by the Progressive Democratic Nationalist Front, the organised front of the nationalist parties, here today. Presenting a proposal entitled ?Proposals of the Political Conference and Immediate Programmes? on the occasion, President of Rastriya Prajatantra Party
(Rastrabadi), one of the constituents of the Front, said that constitutional collaboration and consensus and equal respect and role of all the political parties alone would give an outlet to the country.
The proposal presented by party leader Devkota contains points on bringing all the nationalists into a single mainstream, converting the Front into a disciplined and committed organization in order to change it as the single force and encouraging the non-political, regional, ethnic, social, religious and cultural organizations to become the associate members of the Front.
Similarly, it is stated in the proposal to oppose the movement and the revolution of the Leftist bloc, to become disciplined and organised and make the economic, political and social viewpoint clear, to prepare a programme for promoting understanding amongst each other and to discourage the element attempting to bring about differences between the political forces and the King.
Member of the Raj Parishad Jeet Bahadur Arjel said that activities directed at finishing off the nationality of the country unified through military power, people?s power and Monarchial power, would, in no way, be tolerable to the nationalists, hence, the need for a nationalist movement.
President of the Rastrabadi Milan Kendra, Nepal Ganesh Pandey said the need of the day is to move ahead the country, people and the institution of monarchy as per the concept of ?One constituency, one nationalist and one candidate? in the upcoming municipal elections for the institutionalized development of nationalism. President of Nepal Dalit Sramik Morcha Kailash Man Sashankar underlined the need for using the municipal elections as the backbone for consolidation of democracy and also expressed the hope that unity amongst the nationalists would become successful. At the programme presided over by President of the Jan Ekata Party and representative of the Front member
organizations, Manmohan Shumsher Rana, President of the Nepal Rastriya Jan Ekata Party Daya Krishna Neupane, President of the Dalit Majdoor Kisan Party Bimal Prasad Yadav, Bayan Bahadur Rai of the Janamukti Party and nationalist leaders Shivaji Panta, Tek Prasad Subedi, among others, also expressed their views.
At present, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Nationalist), Jan Ekata Party, Nepal Dalit Sramik Morcha, Janamukti Party and the Rastrabadi Milan Kendra Nepal are the members of the Coordination Committee of the Front while there are some 40 nationalist parties associated in the Front.
The Front has the objective of bringing together all the nationalist parties and ensuring the environment for participation in the municipal elections.
