Dear Br Yashpal,
That is a great work, brother. If we unite, this type of incidents may
decrease. Our disunity is the main cause for the aggressiveness of these so
called high castes.
With all your help, we can help Br Bant Singh and his family of 9 at least to
live with dignity. Without proper financial help, his life will be miserable. I
do not know how much we can help. I got little hope with Br KPs email. Hope,
his efforts will be successful.
When we are depressed with Br Bant Singhs news, today we got another news on
a Dalit girl whose hand was chopped for resisting rape. How long our people
suffer like. I think, even in Jim Crow times in US south, the frequency of
attacks on blacks was not that much.
It is a good idea to strengthen local organization. Keep up the good work.
But, the need of the hour is helping Br Bant Singh as without proper help he
may have to suffer a lot. So, I request every one to contribute something.
With regards

Dear Bejamin Kalia,
Thanks for you tirelessly efforts for collecting
donations for Dalit hero of our time Mr Bant Singh. In addition of $200(Rs
10,000) from "CHETNA Assoc. of Canada. Our Board members discussed the alarming
situation of Dalits atrocities in Punjab and will donate Rs 10,000 to " Punjab
Dalit Action Committee" to further strengthen the hands of the organization to
lead the actions like case of Mr Bant Singh and aware the oppressed masses.
To counter the "Talhan atrocity" ,with the efforts of
Ambedkrites formed a " Punjab Dalit Action Committee" Mr Lahori Ram Balley(
Editor/publisher from 56 yrs" Bheem patirka Jalandhar)and Mr Jassi (Canadian)
himself from same villageTalhan, he left Canada and now living in Talhan
,Punjab. As earlier I informed you about Jan 16 protest rally by Dalit Action
Committee, again same committee organized a protest rally on Jan 25,2006 .
This committee has their own network all over Punjab( with donations they
already buy a jeep to reach the site immediately. They settled the case of
Sangrur(PB) shooting in which two Dalit died and culprits are in custody. Even
in Bant Singh case still they had one member Mr jai singh continuously in touch
and frequent visit to PGI Chandigarh.
Last night I talked to Mr Lahori Ram Balley , he is also
Chairman of " Punjab Dalit Action Committee' to update on the situation of
Bant Singh. as I learned from it, we should strengthen our local organizations
such as " Punjab Dalit Action committee." because case like Bant singh occurred
everyday but majority of that always unnoticed.
With many regards,
Yash Mehay
