Dispute over installation of statue Kanpur, June 16: A dispute over installation of a statue of Bhim Rao Ambedkar triggered tension in a village here today. Police seized the statue after some people, apparently belonging to the upper caste, opposed its installation near a pond by Dalits and backward class people in Dharmangatpur village. According to Raghunath Singh, station house officer, Sachendi, the statue was kept at the police station following the dispute. Additional police force has been deployed in the area to prevent breach of peace, officials said, adding authorities were keeping a strict vigil on the situation.
