Lucknow, October 6 With the Lok Sabha elections round the corner, the
Samajwadi Party (SP) is reworking its election strategy by wooing the
Dalits to enhance its vote bank.
Addressing a meeting of the state executive here on Monday, party
chief Mulayam Singh Yadav claimed that the SP had always been
pro-Dalit and had worked for their upliftment more than any other
government in the state. "No dalit faced injustice during our rule,"
he added.

To underline the anti-people ideology of the ruling party, Mulayam
recalled how the Bahujan Samaj Party government snatched away the jobs
of 22,000 policemen and stopped the allowance of many unemployed
youth. He termed the ruling party as the most corrupt government in
the history of Uttar Pradesh politics.

Mulayam exhorted his party workers to stand up against the BSP and get
set for the big fight in the coming elections. "Our aim should be to
oust this government and ensure a that a democratic environment
prevails in the state," said Mulayam.

He also reviewed the organisational strength of the party at the
district level and asked the party leaders to start working for the
Lok Sabha elections on a war footing.

Addressing the executive office bearers, Mulayam pointed out several
issues like the increase in VAT, grim power scenario, police action in
Azamgarh and explained the partymen in which way these issues should
be presented to the public to create an anti-ruling party wave before
the elections.

Meanwhile, party state president Shivpal Singh said the party has
already finalised the candidates for all 80 seats for the Lok Sabha
election. But the names would be made public only after the poll
notification.
