Ahmedabad, October 06 The youth was probably used by an upper caste
group to implicate another
Ramesh Parmar had been to a village garba under Therada taluka of
Patan district to light a lamp on Sunday evening. Instead, he ended up
in a Patan hospital with a stab injury on his head.

The matter is not as simple as it seems. Dalits are not usually
allowed to participate in village garbas, and Ramesh is paying the
price for trying of defy the norm.

What makes it all the more intriguing is the fact that Ramesh was
taken to the venue by a Thakore community group to settle scores with
another, say the police.

"This is a simple case of rivalry between two Thakore groups, one of
whom used this man as a pawn to implicate the other," said
Sub-Inspector AG Ghasura.

"The idea was simple: take a Dalit to the village garba, there will be
some trouble and then the protesters can be implicated in a case of
atrocity," he added.

An FIR has been lodged in the case and the accused are absconding.
