Pune, October 12 Over five lakh Brahmins from all over India are
expected to congregate at Buhgaon near Pune on January 24 and 25, 2009
for the 5th Bahubhasik Brahman Maha Adhiveshan 2009.
The congregation will announce the launch of Parshuram Vidyapeeth, a
university for the open category students, who do not get admissions
in institutions of higher education because they fall in open category
and do not get the benefit of reservation", said Prakash Date, working
committee member of the event.

"In the past 65 years, Brahmins did not unite as a cohesive force. So
the political class neglected our demands", said Moreshwar Ghaisas
Guruji, chairman of the event. In the past, four adhiveshans had been
held at Jalna, Aurangabad, Parbhani and Beed.

"For long, the children of Brahmins did not get admission in colleges
and institutes of higher education in spite of them faring well in
examinations.

Because of this our children got disillusioned. This has led to a fear
in the minds of Brahmins which can be removed only if all Brahmins
come together", said Date.
"But we are not going to make any demands to politicians who will
attend the gathering. The entry to the gathering will be free and food
and accommodation will be provided at a nominal amount," he said.

The event will entail an investment of Rs 6 crore which will be raised
through donations.

"The idea behind this congragation is that in a democracy, large
number of people who act as a group are valued. We hope this event
will help us come forward as a united Brahmin front," said Moreshwar
Ghaisas Guruji.

"A shobha yatra will be organised in Pune on January 23. About one
lakh people are expected to participate in the yatra which will end at
Shaniwarwada though its starting point is yet to be decided", says
Date.

Date said, "About one lakh people are expected to donate blood at the
event. We have tied up with 152 blood banks for this purpose. The site
will have parking capacity for four lakh vehicles, a helipad, a dining
place where 50,000 people can dine together."

"Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Chief Minister Vilasrao
Deshmukh, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil among others are expected to
attend the two day event," said Kanubhai Trivedi, working committee
member for the event.
