Married dalit woman gang raped in Punjab village SAMEER KAURA Saturday, 25 October 2008 PHAGWARA: One Dalit Woman, Mindo (40), mother of two young daughters and one young son w/o a karyana merchant Balbir Chand was gang raped by two young villagers identified as Ashok Kumar and Vijay Kumar of Nanak Nagari Chihherru on the night of October 18. According to the police complaint lodged by the victim woman Mindo,she was returning from a religious place after paying obeysances, when both the rapists met her near her house,and one of the accused Vijay Kumar pulled her in his house in the street at about 8.30PM, where both accused pushed a cloth in her mouth and forcibly raped her turn by turn. Though she told the entire episode to her husband,but Satnam Singh father of one rapist Vijay Kumar went on trying for compromise,which could not be materialized and ultimately she lodged the complaint in Sadar Police Phagwara today and a medical examination of the victim woman was conducted in civil hospital today ie Saturday, which confirmed the rape.Phagwara DSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh told that the police has registered a case under section 376/342/506/IPC, but both the rapists were still at large.
