Stone pelted at dalit marriage party, accused at large

Muzaffarnagar , Apr 16 At least 18 people of a Dalit marriage party
were injured when a bus in which they were travelling was attacked by
members of another community over a dispute at Kheda Hatana village in
Baghpat district, police said here today.

The incident took place yesterday when some members of Jat community
pelted stones at the bus carrying Dalits over a trivial issue, they
said, adding 18 people were injured in the incident.

The injured, including the relatives of the bridegroom, have been sent
to hospital, they added.

A case has been registered a case against the accused under Scheduled
Caste and Scheduled Tribe ( Prevention of Atrocities) Act and rioting,
Deputy SP of Baraut circle Vinit Bhatnagar said, adding the accused
are at large and search is on to nab them.

Adequate number of police have been deployed in the area to avert any
untoward incident, Bhatnagar said.
