11 Dalits convicted for communal clash Published: April 16,2009 Muzaffarnagar , Apr 16 A local court at Saharanpur today convicted 11 Dalits, among whom six have been sentenced to life imprisonment, in connection with a communal clash that killed one and injured many in 2006. Additional District Sessions Judge M C Sharma while pronouncing the judgement sentenced six persons to life imprisonment and five accused to five year imprisonment. A fine of Rs 1,15,000 on each was also slapped on them. The accused were held guilty under section 302, 307 and 148 of the Indian Penal Code. Source: PTI
