SAFMA secretary Imtiaz held under Pak emeregency UNB, Dhaka Secretary General of South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) Imtiaz Alam was arrested Sunday following promulgation of the state of emergency in Pakistan. His family in Lahore said he was arrested by police on way to his office. Imtiaz's whereabouts were not known by his family. SAFMA Bangladesh Chapter President Reaz Uddin Ahmed and Secretary General Zahiduzzaman Farooq in a joint statement today condemned the arrest and demanded his immediate release. They said Imtiaz is well known for his relentless fight for freedom of press and establishing peace in South Asia.
