Saturday, May 10, 2008 FMM calls for probe on obstructing foreign journalists The Free Media Movement (FMM) has requested the Government to investigate as to why there was an attempt by the military authorities to bar two foreign media personnel from covering the Eastern Provincial election. In a statement the FMM says discouraging media from covering the Eastern Province election is a direct infringement on the people's right to information and this incident shows how easily this fundamental right is violated in Sri Lanka today, in the name of national security.
