Sri Lanka's Tele village is coming up Updated on Friday, October 31st 2008; Sri lanka's 1st Tele village has been launched honouring another pledge given to the people under the Mahinda Chinthana. The 1st Tele cinema village will come up at Ranminitenna in Tissamaharama on an area spanning 235 acres. It will cost 1.2 billion rupees. The Government has already allocated the required grants. The work is due to be completed in four years. Construction work commenced under the patronage of Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Chamal Rajapakse. Many artistes were present. The work will be carried out in five stages. Minister Chamal Rajapakse said work on the first stage of the Tele village which will be equipped with modern facilities, is due to be completed in one year. The village will help produce quality films and tele dramas, minimizing the expenditure. Present on the occasion were Media Secretary A. Dissanayake, Government Information Director Anusha Pelpita and Presidential Advisor on Cinema Affairs Ravindra Randeniya.
