CHENNAI --- A 35-year-old freelance journalist and his writer mother
on Wedenesday met the city police commissioner and lodged a complaint
alleging that they were forced out of their rented house in
Mudhaliander Thottam at Teynampet.

S Srinivasan, who had worked for a few mainstream Tamil dailies, and
his mother Valasala Sivsami (52), who has published many novels in
leading Tamil magazines, said they had been living in a temple in
Tiruverkadu.

"I am a chronic asthma patient and I cannot work in airconditioned
rooms. That is why I quit my job and now I am working as a freelance
journalist. I have been staying in this house for the past few years
for Rs 1,000 per month as rent. The landlord forcefully evicted us to
get back his house," he said.

The Commissioner received the complaint from Srinivasan and further
investigation is on.
