National Press, media persons observe fast in Coimbatore Coimbatore (PTI): About 50 media persons,including print and electronic media, cameramen and photographers,on Tuesday observed a one day-fast in the city criticising the Sri Lankan government for allegedly denying freedom of expression, as guaranteed in the Constitution there. Over 100 presspersons under the joint action committee of press persons gathered around the venue to express solidarity for the fast, which demanded that the Lankan Government 'stop assault on media and ensure freedom of expression.' Leaders from different political and other organisations, including former BJP MP, C P Radhakrishnan, Former CPI MLA and AITUC leader, Arumugham, Periydar Dravida Kazhakam General Secretary, K Ramakrishnan, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi district secretary, Susi Kalaiarasan and MDMK district secretary, R R Mohankumar, addressed the presspersons.
