Photographers are invited to submit photos that portray women or men in ways that offer new perceptions about their roles and responsibilities. Such photos challenge conventional understandings of âfemininityâ and âmasculinityâ and help break the mould of the male-female âdivideâ. Winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes. There will be one first prize and five commendations. The first prize is $500 and each commendation will be awarded $200. The closing date is 1 May 2009. The competition winners will be announced later in May. On invite les photographes à soumettre des photos qui dépeignent les femmes ou les hommes de façon à ce quâon perçoive leurs rôles et responsabilités à travers un objectif nouveau. De telles photos défient et aident à rompre les perceptions conventionnelles de la « féminité » et de la « masculinité ». Les participants doivent télécharger leurs photos sur le site de Flickr. Les gagnants du concours recevront une somme dâargent comme prix. Il y aura un premier prix et les cinq suivants recevront également des prix. Eligibility The competition is open to all women, men and children, of all ages and from all countries. Entries from amateurs and professionals are welcome. There is no limit to the number of photographs that a person may enter, but no entrant may win more than one prize in the contest. Format for entries - Images must be loaded to this group - Entries must be licenced under "Creative Commons" licence. This can easily be added under "Additional Information" next to each photograph. - Entries should have a short description of what the image shows and why it is relevant. Closing date The closing date is 1 May 2009. The competition winners will be announced one week later. A selection of entries will be exhibited in Toronto and will be used in the WACC publications such as the website and the journal Media Development Judging A panel of judges will select the winners. All decisions by the judges are final and no correspondence will be entered into. All winners will be contacted immediately after the results of the competition have been announced.
