BANGLADESH: Reports invited for Unesco Journalism Awards 2009 UNESCO-Bangladesh hopes to promote good governance and fight corruption by awarding prizes for investigative reports The Daily Star Friday, March 6, 2009 Unesco-Bangladesh invites investigative reports on good governance and corruption for the Unesco-Bangladesh Journalism Awards 2009. The award, also sponsored by Bangladesh Centre for Development, Journalism and Communication (BCDJC) and the High Commission of Canada, aims at establishing good governance and eliminating corruption. The awards will be given in two categories the best investigative report published in the dailies or weeklies between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008 and the best investigative report aired on the TV during the same period. Two reporters, a male and a female, will receive awards in each category. Each of the four winners will receive Tk 50,000 in cash, crest and citation. Besides, four others will receive crests and certificates in each category. Entrants from the print media will have to submit the original copies of their reports and a computer-composed print copy of the report. Entrants from the electronic media will have to submit a CD format of the TV report and a print copy of the script. Each entrant is eligible to submit two reports. He or she will have to provide name, full address and contact number. The deadline for submitting entries is March 20, 2009. The reports should be sent to Bangladesh Centre for Development, Journalism and Communication (BCDJC), 53 Central Road (3rd floor), Dhanmondi, Dhaka 1205.
