The State Election Commission has directed district collectors to remove the photographs of the chief minister, ministers and ruling party leaders from the official district websites being hosted by the district administrations. Sources said chief electoral officer I V Subba Rao has asked collectors to remove the names of legislators and MPs and their claims from the websites of the local bodies, including zilla parishads. "Any publicity material containing the pictures of the ruling party leaders should be removed henceforth as it will give an undue advantage to one party, which is against the model code of conduct," an official of SEC said. Sources said the CEO has also suggested to chief secretary Ramakanth Reddy to take steps to remove the photographs of the CM and his cabinet colleagues from the government's official websites - aponline.com and ap.gov.in.
