NEW DELHI: A 29-year-old designer from Navbharat Times was stabbed and
robbed near a Metro station in Dwarka on Sunday night.

Around 8.30 pm, the victim M P Girish got down from the train at the
Sector 14 station and was walking towards his Sector 16 home when he
was attacked. "The area is normally very secluded. I had just reached
Nirmal Bharti Public School when four people surrounded me. Two of
them had knives and they asked me to hand over all my belongings. I
complied but when one of them tried to snatch my phone, I resisted. He
stabbed me twice in the leg, snatched all my belongings and ran
away,'' said Girish.

He lay bleeding on the road for some time before a passer-by spotted
him and called the cops. He was rushed to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay
Hospital in Hari Nagar. On Monday, he had a surgery at the Ayushman
Hospital where he is now recuperating.

A case of robbery and attempt to murder has been registered but none
of the culprits has been arrested so far. "We have spoken to Girish
and based on his description, are looking for the assailants. If need
be, we will get sketches drawn too. We are combing the area and
looking into the call records of the stolen mobile to ascertain the
assailants' movements,'' said a police officer from Dwarka police
station.

According to his statement to the police, Girish has lost his gold
ring, wallet with Rs 1200, identity cards, ATM, debit and credit cards
and his mobile phone. He is originally from Kerala and lives alone in
the city. His family in Kerala has been informed.
