Journalism Ethics

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) recently unveiled a
publication on gender equality designed to engage journalists in the
fight against gender discrimination.

According to the IFJ General Secretary Aidan White, journalism is
rooted in progress and the fight for rights; accordingly, the booklet
seeks to help journalists break down existing stereotypes about women.

To that end, the booklet examines the media's effectiveness in
challenging -- or perpetuating -- the stereotypical portrayal of
women; and the role professional organizations have played in
promoting and guaranteeing gender rights.
