Saturday 23 April, 10 am to 3 pm, British Council Delhi, Conference Room 1.

Malika's Poetry Kitchen

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Malika's Poetry Kitchen is a workshop for writers at any stage of their
development. Its purpose is to provide a safe environment for writers to create
work and get feedback. It also serves to build a writing community, exchange
information and facilitate growth both in terms of writing and performance
development. It will be run by the British poet, Malika Booker as part of her
residency in Delhi funded by the Arts Council of England.

This is a masterclass for poets and writers of all experiences. Participants
are requested to wear comfortable clothes. They can expect a writing session
and feedback on the work created. There will also be a discussion on the
politics of creating a safe environment for critiquing and methods to critique
work. Aspects of performing poetry will also be viewed.

In order to make the session beneficial for all attending and to enable Malika
to gain an understanding of the participants, she requires participants to come
to send her a letter or email naming two of their favourite writers, providing
upto four poems or examples of their work, telling her why they write and what
they would like to get out of the masterclass (it does not have to be formal in
any way).

If participants would like critique or feedback on any of their poems
please indicate this in the letter. Malika will then give them written feedback
on the day of the workshop. Could this be sent to her by 19 April at the latest
so that feedback can be planned and delivered effectively? Participants should
indicate in their correspondence with her what they would like to get out of
the workshop/masterclass.

Please also email [EMAIL PROTECTED] to register
interest by 15 April, if possible. This will enable us to ensure we are
catering to the right number of people. We look forward to seeing you there!
