GOING by the usually sorry attendance at poetry events, the turnout at the British Council Auditorium last week for Arundhathi Subramaniam's book launch was a pleasant shock. Where I Live is Subramaniam's second book of poems, and thankfully she let her verses do all the talking. Rehaan Engineer, Radhika Da Cunha and Avantika Akerkar squatted on stage to read out a few poems while the poet's buddies and the literati cheered on. Count Jerry Pinto, Adil Jussawala, Ranjit Hoskote, Marilyn Noronha, Meher Pastonji, Dolly Thakore and Shernaz Patel among the crew.
