baby�s banter
why do you rob me
of my ga-ga�s and gu-gu�s?
trespass into my bliss-zone?
we�ve been cooing to each other,
god knows for how long�
you and i know
my needs are simple
you and i know
why i cry:
hunger, pain
wetting and shitting
attention and amusement
can there be trickery
in my infant smile
innocent tears�
that you want a device
to know me better�
don�t we already share
a mysterious bond
that keeps the world going�
that makes the world
a better place to live?

(after reading a news item in today�s 'the hindu' on Japanese attempts to develop a device that can read baby�s feelings and translate its babbling so that parenting is made easier. Don�t you think it would make matters worse for us adults?)
