[ZESTPoets] About Myself: Ankur Betageri

Hi,

   I am Ankur Betageri. I am 21 years old and am doing my Masters in Clinical Psychology in Bangalore. I have published two collection of poems, one in English entitled The Sea of Silence (2000) and another in Kannada called Hidida Usiru (meaning roughly 'The breath which has been caught' or 'Life Caught'). My second and third collection of poems are ready but as usual I am not finding a publisher for them. I tried sending it to Mr. Jayanth Mahapatra's Chandrabhaga, but evertime I get them back with the words 'please enclose a sase' underlined. I tried other international journals but dealing with them is a costly affair as they ask you to enclose international reply copouns. My good friend Brian Mendonca mailed the ZEST poets link to me and now I am happy that I am in the good company of fellow poets. I also write stories, and many of them have won prizes and I guess there is another yahoo group which deals with fiction. I am planning to attach a copy of my poem to this mail but unfortunately the floppy drive in this net parlour is not working. What else i also write plays, and have performed in a few and have directed one. Why do I write poetry? I dont know, but all I can say is writing poetry is as important me as being alive. Ok good bye for now. I will be mailing my poems shortly.
