Quiescently lying in the laps of luxury,
Espying the funeral of my dreams.
The last rites performed with eyes tight shut,
Flummoxed in silence beyond realms.
Was there a need to shed the grief?
Was there a need to cry?
Was there a single need more numbing,
Than the vital need to die?
For basking in glory of a pyrrhic victory,
Dream castles were built to deprave.
Whose foundations shook and swayed with time,
Nourished on the heartbeats of my grave.
Weren't thou the God that life imbued
For nine months festering in my womb?
Teach me how to kill that I love
Happily cocooned inside my tomb.
Dost thou have no God to fear?
Dost thou have to shed no tear?
No plea to hear, no pain to bear,
But poison for all my hopes to sear?
I watched the last dreams char to death,
With no more to lose, no ounce of fear.
And strength, like phoenix, rising from its ashes,
Or doves and halcyons to wrongly appear.
